Fuji Xerox yang selama ini konsentrasi pada produk mesin photo copy meluncurkan produk printer terbaru yang menyasar pasar Usaha Mikro Kecil Menengah (UMKM).
Printer dengan seri DocuPrint C1190 FS diharapkan memberikan solusi bagi UMKM yang bergerak dalam percetakan dalam mengembangkan usahanya.
"Printer ini memiliki fungsi manajemen yang mampu meningkatkan kinerja bisnis rumahan dan usaha kecil (UMKM)," kata Sales Manager Fuji Xerox Printers Indonesia Teddy Susanto di Jakarta, Rabu.
Menurut dia, printer seri DocuPrint C1190 FS ini menghadirkan fitur-fitur yang mempermudah alur kerja dokumen dimana pengguna dapat mengirim faksimili secara langsung serta scan sekaligus tanpa harus menggunakan personal computer (PC).
DocuPrint C1190 FS juga menghasilkan kualitas cetak yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan jenis printer dikelasnya. DocuPrint C1190 FS juga menghasilan gambar yang lebih tajam dan lebih akurat dalam registrasi warna.
"Dengan printer ini UMKM bisa lebih maksimal dalam menjalankan usahanya dan tidak perlu lagi menggunakan perangkat-perangkat tambahan," katanya menambahkan.
Lebih lanjut ia menjelaskan, printer DocuPrint C1190 FS memiliki beberapa keunggulan diantaranya cepat dalam mencetak yaitu 12 halaman per menit, selain itu memiliki memori sebesar 384 MB yang mampu menangani pekerjaan cetak skala besar dan komplek.
"Bentuknya juga simpel dengan berat sekitar 30 kg. Selain difokusnya pada UMKM, printer ini juga cocok untuk perkantoran maupun kelompok kerja. Keunggulan lain dari printer ini adalah bisa terkoneksi dengan Internet," katanya menjelaskan.
Ia menambahkan, pada awal peluncuran ini pihaknya menargetkan penjualan printer seri DocuPrint C1190 FS sebanyak 1.000-1.100 unit dengan harga 15 persen dibawah produk printer sejenis dari merk lain.

Bing.com milik Microsoft meningkatkan pangsanya dalam pasar penggunaan mesin pencari di Amerika Serikat. Kantor berita Reuters memperoleh laporan dari StatCounter (firma riset internet asal Irlandia) bahwa selama bulan Juli 2009, angka pengguna Bing naik sebesar 1%. Menurut data, bulan Juni lalu angka yang diperoleh Bing sebesar 8,23%, sementara pada akhir bulan Juli didapatkan angka 9,41%. Jika angka ini digabungkan dengan pangsa pasar mesin pencari Yahoo! yang baru-baru ini mengikat kerja sama dengan Microsoft, terdapatlah jumlah total 20,36%.
Angka tersebut memang masih terbilang jauh bila dibandingkan dengan raihan Google sebesar 77,54%. Namun ternyata Google mengalami penurunan pengguna. Sebelumnya pada Juni 2009, mereka sukses merebut 78,48% pasar.
Dalam laporannya, StatCounter menyebutkan, "Bing berhasil melakukan perkembangan yang pelan tapi pasti. Namun ikatan kerja sama 10 tahun antara Microsoft dan Yahoo! pekan lalu harus terus berupaya sinergis jika ingin menggeser popularitas Google." Apalagi menurut data mereka, secara global Google masih sangat jauh memimpin pasar mesin pencari, yaitu sebesar 89,23%. Artinya penetrasi Bing dan Yahoo! ke region-region selain AS sangatlah diperlukan.
Sekadar informasi, di Indonesia, Google unggul telak dibanding pesaing-pesaingnya. 96,22% pengguna internet di tanah air memilihnya sebagai mesin pencari, sementara Yahoo! dan Bing masing-masing hanya mencatat angka 2,84% dan 0,7%. Hmm, PR sangat berat memang masih menunggu duo Microsoft dan Yahoo!.
Jakarta - Jejaring teknologi utama menyatakan Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) mesti dimasukkan ke dalam tumpukan sampah. Facebook dan YouTube, mengakhiri dukungan pada IE6. Padahal IE6 yang hadir dengan Windows XP ini paling banyak dipakai pengguna internet.
Mashable, jejaring yang menarik lebih dari 5 juta pembaca setiap bulan, menyatakan dengan dikeluarkannya versi mendatang HTML5 (Hyper Text Mark-up Language), banyak pemakai IE6 akan menghadapi kenyataan tak dapat menggunakan jejaring itu.
HTML adalah bahasa jejaring, dan HTML 5 akan menyediakan fungsi yang lebih besar. Namun meskipun peselancar lama mungkin masih bekerja dengan jejaring yang ditulis di dalam HTML 5, mereka takkan menemukan fungsi atau pengalaman terbaik.
Digg, Facebook dan YouTube, semuanya, akan mengakhiri dukungan mereka kepada IE6 dan menyarankan pemakai beralih ke browser yang beroperasi baik.
Antara 15 dan 25 persen pemakai internet diperkirakan menjelajahi internet dengan menggunakan IE6, sebagian karena itu adalah mesin penjelajah yang hadir dengan sistem operasi yang paling banyak digunakan, Windows XP. Namun banyak orang dan perusahaan terbukti gagal melakukan peningkatan.
Digg, jejaring berita sosial yang diluncurkan agar orang dapat menemukan dan berbagi isi internet, menyatakan lebih dari 70 persen yang menggunakan IE6 dipaksa melakukannya oleh perusahaan mereka.
"Setiap manajer teknologi informasi yang memaksa perusahaannya menjalankan IE6 pada 2009 sangat tak mampu dan barangkali mesti melaksanakan tugas yang lebih rumit daripada sekedar membeli biskuit," kata Shane Richmond, yang menulis kolom teknologi Daily Telegraph.
Tetapi ia mengakui bahwa ada alasan di balik keputusan untuk tetap menggunakan IE6 kendati umurnya sudah tua.
"Barangkali mereka melakukan ini karena perusahaan mereka menggunakan intranet, atau sebagain layanan jejaring yang sudah terpasang, yang dirancang untuk menggunakan IE6 dan tak bermanfaat bagi mesin penjelajah lain," kata Richmond.
Namun kini, ada mesin penjelajah yang jauh lebih unggul seperti Firefox, Safari, Opera dan Chrome, serta Internet Explorer 8, kata Ben Parr dari Mashable.
"IE6 cukup bagus untuk digunakan pada 2001, tapi karena aplikasi jejaring berkembang dan tumbuh jadi sarana yang beroperasi tanpa batas seperti halnya aplikasi desktop, mesin penjelajah yang memerlukan sangat banyak keruwetan, waktu dan energi untuk dapat beroperasi harus disingkirkan," katanya.

Jakarta – Penyedia solusi manajemen keamanan Kaspersky meluncurkan Internet Security dan Anti Virus 2010 untuk pasar Indonesia. Kaspersky juga membuat produk edisi special Jackie Chan untuk pengguna di Indonesia.
“Penawaran ini berlaku bagi mereka yang membeli selama masa promosi dan sekaligus akan bertemu dengan pendiri Eugene Kaspersky dan mendapat tanda tangan di box Kaspersky,” kata Gun Suk Ling, Managing Director Southeast Asia Kaspersky Lab di Jakarta, Rabu (5/8).
Ia mengatakan pendiri Kaspersky Eugene Kaspersky akan hadir di Indonesia pada awal Oktober mendatang. Selain di Jakarta Eugene akan mengunjungi Yogyakarta.
Nathan Wang Vice President Technical Division Kaspersky Lab APAC mengatakan Kaspersky telah meningkatkan mesin anti virus di produk terbaru untuk mendeteksi program jahat lebih efektif. Hal itu karena 10.00 program jahat muncul tiap harinya di seluruh dunia.
Kaspersky melakukan pendekatan dengan mengawasi dan mengidentifikasi aktivitas malware secara global. Caranya melalui Kaspersky Security Network (KSN) untuk memperoleh informasi malware baru dari jutaan pengguna Kaspersky Lab yang ikut berpartisipasi. Sebagai hasilnya Kaspersky Internet 2010 hanya perlu waktu kurang dari 40 menit untuk mengidentifikasi program jahat yang belum diketahui sebelumnya, sehingga tidak menginfeksi komputer korban.
Menurut Gun Suk Ling Kaspersky sudah memiliki ribuan user di Indonesia. Namun Kaspersky akan terus meningkatkan penggunanya terutama di sektor enterprise. “Kami belum puas, makanya kami akan lebih intensif di enterprise,” kata Gun.
Ia menyebut sepanjang semester pertama 2009, Kaspersky mengalami pertumbuhan 153% dibandingkan 2008. Kaspersky menargetkan pertumbuhan 200% (year on year) hingga akhir 2009 di Indonesia.
Jakarta - Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) semakin siap untuk menempatkan chip Neo yang rendah daya dalam peperangan dengan Intel di produk desktop.
AMD awalnya merancang Neo untuk perangkat laptop ultra tipis dan ringan dengan fungsionalitas penuh tapi harga yang terjangkau. Namun chip itu kini semakin meluas menjadi chip untuk PC all-in-one dan nettop.
“Sasaran utama chip Neo tetap untuk ultrathin laptop, tetapi beberapa pembuat desktop PC membuat keputusan dengan menempatkan prosesor tersebut di nettop dan all-in-one,” kata Bob Grim, direktur pemasaran untuk klien AMD.
Selama ini Intel Corp sudah lebih dahulu menawarkan prosesor Atom dengan performa rendah. Grim mengatakan pengguna PC desktop meminta kualitas grafis dan performan lebih baik dibandingkan dengan pengguna netbook.
Desktop dengan chip Neo memungkinkan untuk menonton dan memutar film dalam kualitas tinggi dan memainkan permainan dengan performa grafis seperti saat memainkan World of Warcraft dan quake, menurut grim.
"CPU ini melakukan performa lebih baik daripada Atom prosesor, dan unggul dalam grafis. CPU ini dapat memutar blu-ray dan mereka memainkan game," ujar Grim.
AMD memperkenalkan barisan chip Neo dengan single-core di bulan Januari, dan pada bulan Mei ditambahkan ke dalam versi dual-core. Chip tersebut baru dipakai pada laptop ultra tipis Hewlett-Packard DV2Z. Sedangkan laptop dari beberapa vendor PC akan tersedia pada bulan September. Chip dual-core itu berjalan di kecepatan 1.6Ghz dan L2 Cache 512KB hingga 1MB.
Semenatar produsen PC seperti Acer melakukan percobaan dengan platform ION nVidia yang merupakan pasangan antara prosesor Atom dengan kartu grafis nVidia. Hal itu memungkinkan untuk menonton film dengan kualitas grafis yang sangat tinggi.
Tetapi pada desktop berbasis Intel Atom dan AMD Neo melayani pengguna yang berbeda. Nettop berbasis Atom ditujukan untuk penggunaan aplikasi internet dengan kekuatan power yang rendah. Sementara nettop berbasis AMD mendatangkan kinerja dan grafis lebih baik.
Perusahan elektonik, LG, meluncurkan TV LCD generasi terbaru Scarlet yang konsumsi listriknya bisa dihebat hingga 50 watt sesuai keinginan pemiliknya.
Flat Panel Display, product Marketing LG Indonesia Jong Budi Santoso di Makassar Rabu mengatakan, jika pada kondisi normal konsumsi listrik televisi jenis LCD bisa mencapai 211 watt.
"Konsumsi listrik New Scarlet ini dapat diatur oleh pemiliknya sendiri, mulai dari tingkat konsumsi normal, sedang, minimum, dan maksimum hingga 50 watt," jelasnya.
Produksi LCD TV hemat listrik ini merupakan hasil kerjasama perusahaan elektronik tersebut dengan Universitas Indonesia sejak tahun 2008.
Selain hemat listrik, produk baru ini juga mampu membaca arsip-arsip konsumen yang tersimpan dalam flash disc atau USB.
"Pemiliknya dapat melihat file-file foto, film atau musik yang tersimpan di USB melalui produk baru ini," jelasnya.
Ia menjamin, televisi ini tidak akan kemasukan virus karena arsip yang dibuka hanya ditampilkan saja tidak disimpan.
Kelebihan lain adalah fungsi bluetooth atau alat pemindahan data dan fungsi jarak dekat seperti yang dimiliki telepon selular atau notebook.
Dengan fungsi ini, pengguna bisa mendengarkan suara televisi dari jarak jauh tanpa menggunakan kabel dengan jarak tertentu. "Fungsi ini baik digunakan saat pengguna menonton TV dan tak ingin mengganggu orang sekitarnya," jelasnya.
Jakarta - Acer menantang konsumen membuktikan kehebatan laptop Aspire Timeline yang dipersenjatai Intel Laminar Wall Jet. Teknologi pendingin udara itu merupakan replika dari mesin pesawat jet.
Intel Laminar Wall Jet mampu mengurangi panas notebook hingga 5 derajat celcius. Acer merupakan satu-satunya merek di industri yang menggunakan teknologi Intel Laminar Wall Jet.
”Intel Laminar Wall Jet merupakan salah satu inovasi teknologi pada Acer Aspire Timeline yang membuat notebook lebih nyaman saat dalam pangkuan. Aspire Timeline merupakan perpaduan inovasi notebook dengan kombinasi baterai tahan lama dan notebook yang ringan,” papar Astrid Warsito, PR Specialist, Acer Group Indonesia di Jakarta.
Astrid mengatakan Aspire Timeline merupakan muara dari inovasi teknologi notebook sekaligus menandai era baru dari mobile computing. Pengguna dapat beraktivitas didukung daya tahan baterai lama.
Untuk mengenalkan teknologi itu, Acer menggelar roadshow selama bulan Agustus dan berlangsung di empat kota. Selain Jakarta, Aspire Timeline juga hadir di Surabaya, Medan dan Bandung yang merupakan pasar terbesar Acer.
”Roadshow dari mal-ke-mal ini merupakan strategi Acer untuk meningkatkan penetrasi pasar notebook di Indonesia serta memberi kesempatan pada konsumen untuk membuktikan langsung kehandalan Aspire Timeline,” papar Astrid.[ito]
Situs Web NetBSD (http://www.netbsd.org/) menyatakan bahwa versi terbaru Net BSD telah dirilis dan bisa diunduh para pengguna. Menurut situsnya, versi terbaru dengan kode 5.01 ini merupakan pembaruan sekuriti terhadap NetBSD versi 5.0. Versi terbaru ini mengandung beberapa perbaikan untuk meningkatkan faktor sekuriti dan stabilitas sistem.
Situs Web Net BSD juga menyatakan bahwa semua perbaikan dalam rilis terbaru ini bersifat kumulatif, artinya mencakup semua patch dan perbaikan yang sudah muncul sebelumnya. Semua ini direncanakan akan dikemas juga dalam rilis minor mendatang (seperti NetBSD 5.1, 5.2, dan seterusnya). Perbaikan ini juga direncanakan dikemas bersama dengan perbaikan kecil dan peningkatan feature lain.
Toshiba Luncurkan Batere terbaru, batere Toshiba terbaru diklaim hanya membutuhkan waktu pengisian sekitar 10 menit saja. Jadi dalam waktu 10 menit tersebut pemakai akan mendapatkan daya 90% dari kapasitas keseluruhan batere.
Toshiba menamai teknologi ini sebagai Super Charge Ion Battery (SCIB). Sebelumnya teknologi SCIB pernah diperkenalkan pada ajang Cutting-edge IT & Electronics Comprehensive Exhibition (CEATEC) 2008 yang berlangsung di Jepang.Di tengah maraknya kompetisi notebook yang saling mengusung batere bertahan lama, rasanya wajar jika pabrikan asal Jepang ini menghadirkan inovasi yang berbeda dengan menampilkan batere notebook yang dapat diisi ulang hanya dalam waktu 10 menit. Di samping itu, batere notebook Toshiba ini juga memiliki siklus isi ulang 5000 sampai 6000 kali. Coba bandingkan dengan batere Lithium-Ion yang hanya memiliki siklus isi ulang sekitar 500 kali saja. Yang menarik, batere ini terbuat dari komponen yang menawarkan stabilitas pada panas yang tinggi, sehingga mampu mencegah overheat (panas berlebih) juga tidak akan meledak.
Depok- Universitas Indonesia (UI) menggelar Olimpiade Sains Nasional 2009 pada bidang ilmu komputer dan diikuti 110 siswa tingkat SLTA dari 33 provinsi di Indonesia.
Deputi Direktur Kantor Komunikasi UI, Devie Rahmawati, di Depok Rabu mengatakan, kegiatan tersebut berlangsung pada 4 hingga 6 Agustus ini dengan mempertandingkan problem solving pemograman komputer.
"Dalam pertandingan peserta akan diminta mengerjakan Problem (Soal) di Komputer masing-masing," katanya.
Menurut dia, hari pertama para peserta akan menghadapi soal-soal berupa Kemampuan Analitik (Teori) dan Pemrograman, yang akan dikerjakan kurang lebih selama 5 jam.
Hari Kedua, para peserta kembali mengerjakan soal seputar pemrograman namun dengan tingkat kesulitan lebih tinggi dari soal hari pertama. Waktu yang diberikan maksimal lima jam.
Ia mengatakan setiap peserta akan mengumpulkan jawaban secara Online ke Server OSN bidang Komputer.
Jawaban peserta akan dinilai secara otomatis oleh program Automatic Grader setelah sessi pertandingan selesai.
Setiap problem dan solusinya disiapkan oleh tim juri Nasional yang terdiri dari Dosen-Dosen dari FASILKOM UI, Teknik Informatika ITB, Ilmu Komputer IPB, Ilmu Komputer UGM dan Teknik Informatika ITS.
Siswa-siswa terbaik akan memperoleh Medali Emas, Perak dan Perunggu. OSN ini juga merupakan bagian dari seleksi kandidat Wakil Indonesia ke Olimpiade Sains Tingkat Internasional. Untuk bidang Komputer, Olimpiadenya adalah International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) tahun berikutnya.
Untuk tahun 2010, IOI ke-22 akan diselenggarakan di University of Waterloo, Canada (14-21 Agustus 2010). Sementara tahun 2009 ini, Tim Olimpiade Komputer Indonesia (TOKI) akan mengikuti IOI ke-21 di Plovdiv, Bulgaria pada 8 -15 Agustus 2009.
"Sebagai Tim Leader adalah Ir. Suryana Setiawan, M.Sc (Dosen Fasilkom UI)," katanya.
Fasilkom UI turut menyelenggarakan Open House dan Exhibition pada tanggal 5 - 6 Agustus yang terbuka untuk siswa-siswi SMU se-Jabodetabek beserta Guru pendamping.
Dalam eksibisi tersebut para pengunjung dapat melihat dengan dekat produk-produk penelitian yang telah dihasilkan baik oleh dosen maupun mahasiswa fakultas ilmu komputer UI.
Diantara penelitian yang akan ditampilkan ialah Portal E-School For Indonesia Lego Robot Self Organized Traffic Light System, Music Retrieval Batik Digital Automatic Speech Recognition Games Applications.

Super Charge Ion Battery (SCiB) disinyalir lebih aman dibanding batere komersial lainnya. Batere tersebut menggunakan katoda oksid lithium-titanium, ini menyebabkan batere lebih stabil jika dibandingkan batere masa kini lainnya.
Toshiba sendiri, sebagai produsen SCiB telah berencana akan mulai memproduksi batere secara massal pada bulan Maret 2009.
